Children of the Sun

I posted recently that I hate sunflowers.  My darling Hannah posted this picture and now understands the hella creepiness that is a field of the suckers.  Note that the flowers are people.  Be afraid.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!  Right?  So... what is happening in this picture?  *Raising my own hand, waving it furiously*  IknowIknowIknow.... this guy has to continue playing the violin until his broken, bleeding fingers can no longer support the bow, because as soon as the music stops, they are going to eat him.  You know I'm right.

This picture makes me feel like I can't breathe.

And then I found these HOLY CRAP pictures on Flickr of creepy dolls in a sunflower patch.
Because you know that is where creepy dolls are born.

If I ever want to write horror, here is my instant idea factory.

By the way, there is a Facebook group called "Huge, EVIL sunflowers scare the freaking CRAP out of me!"  (their emphasis with large caps). Better believe I am a member.

Now I'm even more scared! I'm actually laughing because it scares me so much. That's what I do when I'm scared, laugh nervously and back away from the creepy flowers staring at me. I am a horror writer and now I have fuel!

Honestly I have never ever looked at a sunflower in fear, but these pics. . . AAAAAAAAAHHHH! I agree. And you are hilarious, I enjoyed this post immensely!:)

Okay, that doll creeps me out.
The ONLY good thing about sunflowers is sunflower seeds.

Did you ever notice how sunflowers are magnets for ants? Always...

I think you're right about that guy having to play to ward off the sunflowers. They look like they are just waiting to over run him. *shudder* oog.

And the dolls in the field? Ummm... creepy!

Wow - never thought of sunflowers as creepy before. I will now.

Except for one photo. I've a great one of my dad (before he passed away) and my kids standing with his sunflowers. They're all giggling and it's a great photo!

LOL. There really is a Facebook group for everything.

They're just so... big. I don't trust things that are that much bigger than I am.

I have to admit that I am disturbed by the violin-listening sunflowers and the sunflower with the creepy face. The doll-bedecked sunflowers not so much because my kids leave toys everywhere in my garden. My flower beds are toy graveyards. This next comment will give you the shivers, Lindsey. I am just warped enough to think the field-of-sunflowers picture is pretty. I would skip through it, singing and gathering a bouquet. I hope this revelation won't affect our friendship. . .

Omigosh. I never thought sunflowers were scary before. Now I do. Well, the big ones, at least.
Hilarious post, though! :D

Umm...this is hysterical. I've never found sunflowers scary. Cornfields give me the creeps, though. Too many movies with aliens and crop signs, I guess...

You'd better never travel to southern Spain then. You can drive for miles and miles past acres and acres of sunflowers. You'd be curled in a little ball on the floor of the car!
Might be almost as traumatizing as glazed doughnuts on Christmas morning.
(family joke)

OMG.

There are creepy dolls in the sunflowers.

And there's a sunflower with a creepy face.

I may have nightmares of creepy dolls/sunflowers tonight.

The first pic is from Imagine a Night, a kids book that my class loves. Very surreal. Every picture is just about as creepy as heck, I can tell ya!

:)

@lora96- That's the book that first turned me onto Rob Gonsalves. I love it! Imagine a Day is also really good and creepy. I love all of his art.
