Super Fun Award Land

Yippeeee!  The award I've been secretly hoping for has been sent my way!  It's the "Creative Writer" Bold Faced Liar Blogger Award.  Many thanks to Merissa at See Merissa Write and E. Elle at The Writer's Funhouse  for the honor.  This one's fun:  I post 1 truth and 6 lies and you guess which one is the truth!  I'll come clean in my next entry.   :)

1. When I was in high school, my house burned down.  We relocated to an apartment for several months while our house was being rebuilt.  The apartment was next to a bowling alley.  I bowled so much during our time there that I won a bowling trophy.  If my house hadn't burned down, I never would have realized the insanely talented bowler within!

2. My husband and sister-in-law have both won Teacher of the Year Awards and I have not, even though I have taught in my school longer than they have taught in theirs. *sniff*

3. I teach first grade and one year when we were studying money, one of my students brought in two Sacajawea golden dollars to show the class.  He put them on his tongue when I wasn't looking and closed his mouth.  When I saw that something was in his mouth, I asked him what it was and he tried to show me.  One of the golden dollars came out but he accidentally swallowed the other one and had to go to the ER.  The next day he brought in x-rays of the golden dollar in his stomach.

4. I gave birth to both of my children naturally without drugs.  It wasn't the plan, but I have scoliosis and they couldn't get the epidural in.

5. I am a die hard Twilight fan but I hide the books from my 7 year old because I don't want her to know.

6. Growing up, my sisters called me "the milkman's kid" because I am the middle child of three girls and I have stick straight hair while both of my sisters have curly hair.

7. I met Handsome Hubby through my online graduate program.  The rest of our group members (who were all also teachers, hmph) totally left us with all of the work in a group project so we had a lot of "quality time" working together and got to know each other fairly well before ever meeting in person.

Well, kids... there you have it!  I want to lovingly bestow this award upon a few blogs that I recently discovered and really enjoy and I can't wait to see what creative things they come up with (and if I can guess the truth!):

Sonshine at Sonshine Thoughts
Steph at maybe genius
Wendy Ramer at On 'n On 'n On
Alyson at May Day Writer

Christine at Christine's Journey sent me this Prolific Blogger award.  A prolific blogger 'is one who is intellectually productive...keeping up an active blog that is filled with enjoyable content.'  I'm not sure how intellectually productive things are 'round here lately but I will try to give you a smile when I can. :)  Thanks, Christine!

And Sonshine thinks I am a Sugar Doll!!!  Which I clearly am.  I think.  Wait, I don't know what a Sugar Doll is.  But it sounds sweet and cute and southern, doesn't it?  So I'll happily be it.  Well, except for the southern part, because, you know, I live in New Jersey.  Which is pretty much not southern by any stretch of the imagination.  But I hear southern life is slower and sweeter and kinder than the crazy northeast, so that can't be a bad thing at all.    OH, and WAIT... you HAVE to go to her blog RIGHT NOW (just click on her handy dandy colorful name up yonder... that's me, practicing being southern) and look at her Creepy Cute Crocheted Creations.  Because you will be so entranced that you will join me in whining at her until she creates an Etsy shop that I can completely buy out.  Got it?  Go.  NOW.

Thank you for the lovely awards, ladies, and I very much appreciate having something to post as I haven't had a chance to WRITE anything of substance in about two weeks (*sob*), unless you count that 134 word tiny little spew of writing that was in my head all day at work one day until I could finally come home and add it to my WiP.  But guess what?  Next week will rock my writerly socks, because with all of our crazy snow days, none of us in this four-different-school-house have the same spring break days off.  So I will have the house all to myself on Monday and Tuesday and since I just did a bunch of cleaning, I can focus on WRITING, yippeeee!  (Ok, and I will still probably clean more because I need to).  But still!  Yippee!

Great awards! Congratulations! Those lies are so good, geez...but I'm going to go with the last one as truth, because it sounds so sweet and romantic!

Spring break is coming! It's almost here!!!

YES! The award I too have been secretly waiting for.... oohhh I will have to do something soon, but tomorrow is Retail Wednesday, so maybe Friday or something.

Good grief, your lies all sound real. How can I pick?

I'll say....7?

2 days with the house to yourself? Sounds like a little piece of heaven!! Enjoy :)

I'm going to the kid swallowing the dollars is the truth. I can totally see that happening - right down to the x-ray!

Congrats!!

I will guess that number 6 is true??

I'm guessing #2 is true, although I hope you had your kiddos without drugs. I did and it was AWESOME! And now I feel totally tough whenever I say I had natural childbirth.

Unknown said...

Why, thank you kindly. :D

Ooh... These are tough. I'm going with 6 as truth?

Oh yay, an award! Thank you! :D

Imma guess that the truth is the kid that swallowed the gold coin. Sounds plausible... those kids, lol.

Yay! Thanks for the award!

I'm going to guess #1 because I don't think I've ever bowled over 100 and people who can amaze me.

Thank you so much for this award! I will get working on it and post as soon as possible ;-) Oh, and I think number 3 is true. At least, I hope it is...it's too cute.

Congratulations on your awards. You rock.

I'll say #4 is the truth.

Congratulations on all your awards.

I'm guessing #3. That sounds like first grade all the way.

And if you want to enjoy the south, make sure you stop BEFORE you get to South Florida. It's just like New Jersey.

JUST. LIKE. NEW. JERSEY.

I am going to go with the husband/meeting/#7 as your truth.

I think you're the queen of hoarding awards, Lindsey. But it's okay 'cause you're super-cute. I'm going to say that #2 is true, even though it probably shouldn't be if it is. ;o)

MAAAAAAAAAILMAN'S KIIIIIIIIIIID!!! That Twilight thing threw me. Oh wait....I'm the only (overly-ridiculed) Twilight fan in the family. Don't hold it against me. :-P

Milkmen were long gone from the neighborhood before you came along. Remember you called the mailman "Dad"? LOL

Unknown said...

Oh, family. :) They're SUPPOSED to be lies! That's the point. :) Only one of them is true!

Hannah said...

I'm going with seven...even though they all sound really good.

:)

Congrats on the awards! Well deserved.

Um, as for your truth...I really hope it's not #4. OUCH!

"I know, I know" says me...like a first grader with her hand waving in the air.

This is fun. But it's easy when you're family.
