Hunger Games Casting News
So we already knew that Jennifer Lawrence from Winter's Bone will be playing Katniss in the upcoming Hunger Games move.
The actors playing Gale and Peeta have been announced, too. Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song) as Gale:
Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) as Peeta:
Interesting they went for the blonder guy as Gale and the dark haired guy as Peeta. Not that they can't make them look like whatever they want - obviously Katniss isn't blonde. :) I haven't seen any of their recent movies listed above so I don't really have an opinion, I'm just excited that it's moving forward. :)

...my take, Peeta fits the bill. Gale and Katniss will both need to play in the dirt awhile for this to work:)

I always pictured Peeta as blond, but their take on Gale is pretty much what I imagined.
I'm predicting the books will still be better.
I have to keep reminding myself that the book isn't the movie, and then I'll be fine.
i've been hearing fabulous things about jennifer lawrence, but i haven't seen winter's bone- so i can't have an opinion. neither have i seen liam hemsworth in anything.

as you said they can fix hair and stuff. but, have you seen bridge to terabithia or fragments? this kid has the acting skills to pull off peeta! he does really well playing the sympathetic kid- just captivating. i'm really excited about this one! :)
I've only read the first book so far, but I think this cast is great!
I think Gale and Peeta are spot on. I still have my reservations about Katniss though. She was more southern European than north in my mind.
These seem like good choices for the two male leads. I read about the casting of Katniss and after reading what Suzanne Collins said about Jennnifer Lawrence she was a good choice too.
I'm pleased with Jennifer Lawrence being cast and based on her work in "Winter's Bone" I think she's more than up to the task. Haven't seen the boys in anything yet, but I (shallow alert) do hope they lighten Peeta's hair. I definitely pictured him blond and a bit stocky!
As I have not read the book, nor do I know the cast, I look forward to the movie, with a clear view. :)
